I forgot how to dress
You may have noticed that I've been having trouble taking outfit photos. Confession: I've been having trouble getting dressed. As I mentioned last month, I gained SEVENTY pounds while pregnant with Caroline, so most of my clothes have been fitting wonky. Honestly, I've been wearing the same pair of jeans and switching out basic t-shirts for the past few months. Finally two weeks ago, as I was getting ready to go out for sushi with some friends, trying to decide between my white t-shirt or my striped one, I was like, "What the heck?! I've got to get out of this rut!"
You'd think that getting dressed would be like riding a bike-- that one wouldn't forget how to do it. Friends, I am here to tell you that this is not true. Yesterday I stood in my closet for a solid five minutes, bewildered as to what I should pair with my white maxi skirt (don't ask me why, but I was determined to wear this skirt... but what to put on top?). Slouchy tee? Blazer? Sweater? Finally, I did what any rational, American, technology loving female would do-- I took it to Pinterest. Typing "white maxi skirt" into the search bar yeilded a ton of results, but I was most pleased with this picture of Drew Barrymore rocking her white maxi skirt with a denim shirt, so I copied it verbatim, er, whatever the word is for "verbatim for clothing":
date: 24 March 2013 // occasion: City Life Church gathering1. necklace: c/o Panthia, ethically handmade // 2. sunglasses: c/o Converse, imported // 3. top: Trouvé (Target- similar) // 4. earrings: Target (similar) // 5. skirt: Peacock Plume, USA made (similar) // 6. belt: borrowed from Meg in 2006 and never returned (Fossil- similar) // 7. bag: c/o Olivia + Joy, imported // 8. sandals: Shoemint (Steve Madden- similar)
I don't know for sure, but I'd like to think that Drew Barrymore would approve of this outfit. Or she'd give me the side eye for jacking her style. If that's the case, though, I could always blame it on Pinterest...
