Friday Five: 4.13.18
I didn't even realize it was Friday the 13th until I was getting ready for bed. We, as a society, aren't actually superstisious about that, are we?
Last Saturday was our Nothing Saturday, but this weekend is a little more our norm. I'll run our exchange student up north to meet up with a friend, Jude has a soccer game, and tonight Chris and I have date night. Our local YMCA does a Parents' Night Out once per month, where for $25 per family you can drop off your kids from 5:30 to 9:30 pm and they'll feed them dinner while you enjoy an evening out. I really recommend checking to see if your YMCA does something similar!
Weekend links:
01 / Everlane is one of my favorite companies and they recently came out with underwear! The waitlist for them was 33,000 deep! Curious: have you tried them yet? I could talk about underwear for an hour but suffice to say, I am rarely happy with my underwear. They never stay put, the crotch always seems too narrow, and I'm extremely picky about the rise. Not too high so that they poke out the top of my pants, but not too low so that I'm sporting plumbers crack. I'm hoping Everlane's may be the ticket. Plus, I really appreciate the range of models they used for this line!
02 / Are you a creator or a consumer? I fought to be a creator for so long, but I have come to terms with the fact that I'm not particularly crafty or creative when it comes to sewing (I can sew a straight line and I can serge to finish an edge... that's about it). That's why I am blown away that my friend Jessica made this precious sunsuit for her daughter Bea. She didn't even use a pattern! She didn't even take six months to finish it! She just sketched it out and got it done. Very impressive.
03 / These are now the prettiest shoes I own. I am all about the sunshine yellow these days.
04 / Have you heard about Prime Wardrobe? It looks a lot like Stitch Fix, but without a stylist. Basically, you fill a box with 3-8 items, try them on at home, keep what you like, and send back the rest. Here's the part that I love: they have men's and kids' items, too. I will investigate and report back. It's included with Prime membership, so if you don't have Prime (which... HOW?! Please explain!), here's a link where you can try it for 30 days.
05 / I am a kitchen gadgets person. I have been rocking an Instant Pot for a couple years now and my Anova Sous Vide. I use at least one of these every single day. I've been considering an air fryer on and off for years at this point. I think in another life, I would have been a kitchen technology blogger. Is it too late for me to pivot?
